The 2006 CASQA stormwater conference was held in Sacramento, CA on September 25 – 27, 2006 at the Radisson Hotel on Leisure Lane.

The continued theme again this year was STORM (Stormwater, Treatment, Operations, Research, Management) and featured a full day of in-depth workshops (September 25) and two full days of concurrent session presentations (September 26 and 27). Conference participants found an array of training, learning, and networking opportunities in the following stormwater areas:

• Treatment that focused on how to design stormwater treatment BMPs and assess their effectiveness, including both public domain and proprietary BMPs.
• Operations that focused on the operation and maintenance of stormwater program elements and BMPs. This theme will include public education, municipal operations, industrial and construction oversight and illicit discharges.
• Research that focused on presentation of the latest research results and the subsequent practical application of the results. And
• Management that focused on topics of interest related to program management, municipal programs, business programs, TMDLs, new development, etc.

Attendance at the 2006 two-day conference was well over 450 participants including vendors and speakers. The one-day pre-conference workshops had over 200 participants. Keynote speakers for this year were Pamela Creedon, Executive Officer, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and Damon Diessner, Assistant Director, Utilities Department, City of Bellevue, Washington.
